As a child growing up watching my dad go year after year around the world on short-term mission trips, I always loved hearing stories about all the people who heard the gospel and put their faith in Jesus Christ. This bore in me the desire to help and serve people.
While studying music theory and composition at the University of South Carolina, I decided to give living overseas a try. I spent a whole summer after my sophomore year working in the Philippines. During that time I learned so much, but mainly that I was not meant for overseas living. Instead, God put a desire on my heart to love on those in the arts and entertainment industry.
After graduating from college, I did an internship at 2100 Productions (the media arm of InterVarsity’s Corporate Headquarters) in Madison, Wisconsin, then returned to school to get my Associates Degree in Recording Arts from Full Sail University. This experience and degree gave me the confidence I needed to head to Los Angles and pursue a career in the entertainment industry. Like many who go to LA with big dreams, they were quickly shattered. But… my love for God and people never changed. When I did get a job, it was as VP of Web Development at an automotive performance parts distributor. This company moved me to Orange County, and I joined Saddleback Church and began playing in their orchestra.
Throughout all my moving and adventures, I always found a church home and continued taking short-term mission trips. It was my first trip with Saddleback to Rwanda in 2006 that sparked a new flame in me for missions. Soon after my first trip, I joined the staff at Saddleback serving singles and small groups.
In July 2009, I moved to Texas and joined the staff at First Baptist Church of Coppell, now called GracePoint Church. I filled many roles at the church over the last 10 years, including the Director of Missions, Communications and Connections (Membership).
Throughout all of my education and experience I have learned so many lessons, but most of all I have learned how God has gifted me. I have excelled in the area of project and event management. Often referred to as a “Jill of all Trades”, when faced with a complex situation involving many factors, I enjoy managing all of the variables and aligning them to achieve the vision. My combination of creative and analytical skills allows me to communicate well between right and left brained thinkers. This is the area I would like to continue to pursue.
I grew up and my parents still live in South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!).
I have played cello since I was 9 years old and helped start (and am currently the President of) the Coppell Community Orchestra.
I love boba tea… specifically lavender milk tea with boba.
My dog has almost 9,000 followers on Instagram. He is way more popular than I will ever be… and I am ok with that.
